Families across Scotland facing the heartbreak of baby loss will receive support and treasured keepsakes, thanks to funding for Simba Charity’s work providing specially curated memory boxes.
The Edinburgh-based charity has supported bereaved parents and families since 2005 through its Made With Love Memory Boxes, which are distributed through hospitals, homes and communities across Scotland. Each box contains meaningful keepsakes and sentimental items designed to help families honour and remember babies who have died during pregnancy or shortly after birth.

The charity also works closely with healthcare professionals to improve bereavement care and runs remembrance initiatives such as Trees of Tranquillity, which are life-sized steel sculptures with leaves made from copper, where each leaf represents a baby who has died.
To support the Memory Boxes service, Simba Charity has received a £1,900 donation from the Allied Vehicles Charitable Trust.
Available in different sizes, the boxes give parents a safe way to preserve precious memories of their baby during an immensely difficult time. In 2025 alone, the charity distributed 2,915 Memory Boxes and is on course to reach similar numbers again this year.
Sarah Pride-Smith, Chief Executive Officer at Simba, said: “At Simba, bereaved parents and families remain at the heart of everything we do. Every year, we create around 3,000 Memory Boxes across Scotland, with one third of these supporting families in Glasgow.
“Thanks to the kindness and generosity of Allied Vehicles, we can continue to provide compassionate support and cherished keepsakes for families during the most difficult of times, helping us ensure that no family has to face baby loss without the opportunity to create lasting memories of their precious child.”
David Facenna, Corporate Culture Director at Allied Vehicles Group, said: “The work carried out by Simba Charity is remarkable. Their Memory Boxes offer comfort and dignity for families experiencing an unimaginable loss. We are proud to support an organisation that helps parents honour their babies and ensures support is available across Scotland when it is needed most.”
The funding will help Simba Charity continue to reach thousands of families each year, preserving memories and ensuring bereaved parents receive support, comfort and understanding during one of life’s most challenging experiences.
