by Peter Facenna, Managing Director of Allied Vehicles Limited
A new feature has appeared on our Glasgow site at Allied Vehicles’ on Lomond Street! As part of the Official Accessibility Partnership for the Commonwealth Games, Allied Mobility commissioned rest benches across Glasgow, decorated with pink polka dots in collaboration with Scottish Action on Mental Health.
One of these benches will be donated to Glasgow Children’s Hospital Charity, one of the Commonwealth Sport Foundation’s three legacy charity partners in Glasgow and one will remain permanently on our Glasgow site as a reminder of the legacy these Games had on the City and the part our Allied Mobility brand played to ensure this was the most inclusive Games ever.
It was also fantastic to see our very own Sales Executive Stuart Sloan, who has been part of the Allied family for more than 18 years, representing Scotland on such a stage. Stuart narrowly missed out on a medal, finishing fourth in a highly competitive field. Everyone at Allied is incredibly proud of what he has achieved.
Congratulations to Team Australia on becoming Commonwealth Games champions, and congratulations to Stuart on a brilliant performance.
Knowing Stuart, I’m sure this won’t be his last Commonwealth Games appearance. We felt he deserved a proper hero’s welcome as he returned to the office after the Games, so here’s a video of Stuart getting piped into the office on his first day back.
A partnership like this also doesn’t happen without the hard work of so many staff, so I’d like to give my personal thanks to all of the team involved.
This has been a fantastic demonstration of what can be achieved when an amazing team pulls together. I am incredibly proud of the massive effort by everyone at Allied who was involved in making our Commonwealth Games partnership such a positive experience for staff, spectators and athletes alike.
