Gerry Facenna recognised with Outstanding Contribution to Manufacturing award

Allied Vehicles founder and chairman Gerry Facenna has been recognised for his commitment to excellence in Scottish manufacturing after winning the Outstanding Contribution to Manufacturing award at the Made in Scotland Awards 2026, sponsored by the National Manufacturing Institute Scotland (NMIS).

A Made in Scotland 2026 award trophy for Outstanding Contribution to Manufacturing, and an accompanying event programme for the 8 October 2026 ceremony in Glasgow.Hosted by comedian and broadcaster Sanjeev Kohli, the awards celebrate the businesses, people and innovations helping to drive Scotland’s manufacturing sector forward. As headline sponsor, NMIS supports the annual event, which shines a spotlight on excellence, innovation and leadership across Scottish industry.

For more than three decades, Gerry has helped build Allied Vehicles into one of the UK’s leading specialist vehicle manufacturers. From its headquarters in Possilpark, Glasgow, the company designs and manufactures and distributes wheelchair accessible vehicles, taxis and adapted vehicles that help disabled people, families and communities enjoy greater independence and mobility.

The Outstanding Contribution to Manufacturing award recognises an individual who has made a lasting impact on the sector through leadership, innovation and long-term commitment. Gerry’s work has helped establish Allied Vehicles as a major Scottish manufacturer and employer while creating products that improve lives across the country and beyond.

Gerry thanked the judges for the award and acknowleged the work of the full team behind Allied’s successes, saying:

“I am honoured to receive this award and genuinely didn’t expect this at all. I’ve been fortunate to work with a fantastic team over the years.

“We’ve always focused on building the highest quality vehicles, creating jobs and making a difference in people’s lives through the products we make. This award reflects the hard work of everyone in our team as much as anything I’ve done.

“I’m very grateful to NMIS, Insider and the judges for this recognition. It’s a wonderful surprise and one that I’m proud to share with everyone at Allied Vehicles.”

The Made in Scotland Awards took place at Glasgow’s Voco Grand Central Hotel, bringing together manufacturers and industry leaders from across the country to celebrate the success, innovation and resilience of Scotland’s manufacturing community.
