Pupils at Chirnsyde Primary will celebrate the end of their time at the school with leavers’ hoodies and one last outing, to close their primary years with a sense of community and fun.
Based in Milton, Chirnsyde Primary serves a community facing significant disadvantage. The school provides a safe, supportive environment where children are encouraged to develop both academically and emotionally, guided by its values of learning and growing together. Staff work hard to remove barriers to participation so that all pupils can take part fully in school activities.
The final year of primary school can bring added financial pressure for families, particularly in communities where household budgets are already stretched. To help with this, the Allied Vehicles Charitable Trust has supported the cost of the trip and leavers’ hoodies with a £1,000 donation.
The funding will be used to provide every pupil with a hoodie, subsidise the cost of the trip, and provide lunch on the day. By contributing to these costs, the school can ensure all pupils share the experience and end their time at primary school on a positive note.
The now-traditional hoodies are a treasured souvenir of the kids’ primary years. They display the year of the pupils’ graduation, and the names of everyone in the graduating class. These, and a day out to the AirThrill trampoline park, will help the young people move confidently towards life at secondary school.
Katrina Bennett, the Family Wellbeing Worker at Chirnsyde Primary School, said, “We want to thank the Allied Vehicles Charitable Trust for the continued support. This funding ensures that our P7 pupils will receive their leavers’ hoodies at no extra cost to their families and that they will have a fantastic day out to celebrate the end of their primary school journey.”

By easing the demand on family finances and giving pupils the chance to celebrate together, the funding will help the primary seven pupils move on to secondary school with confidence and memories that will last a lifetime.
