Eleven-year-old Scout Alfie Rae is one step closer to the adventure of a lifetime after receiving a £250 donation from Cab Direct through the Allied Vehicles Charitable Trust.
Alfie is fundraising to take part in a trip to the world-famous Kandersteg International Scout Centre in Switzerland in 2027 with the 22nd Perthshire Scout Group. The centre welcomes Scouts from across the globe and offers young people the chance to challenge themselves, learn new skills and build lifelong friendships.
To raise the money needed for the trip, Alfie has launched a GoFundMe campaign and plans to take on a series of fundraising challenges over the coming year, including climbing Munros, running and cycling. Through his efforts, he hopes to earn his place on what he describes as a once-in-a-lifetime experience.
Alfie’s campaign has already attracted support from family, friends and the wider community. For his most recent challenge, Alfie made the long climb to the peak of Scotland’s tallest mountain, Ben Nevis, where he posed with a Cab Direct shirt as a ‘thank you’ to his biggest single sponsor.
Alfie’s gran, Sandra Bendall, who is a Sales Manager at Cab Direct, said: “I’m incredibly proud of Alfie for setting himself such an ambitious goal and reaching his targets. He has shown real determination and enthusiasm from the start, and it’s wonderful to see him working so hard to make this trip happen. The donation from Cab Direct has given his fundraising a real lift, and our whole family is behind him every step of the way.”
With more fundraising activities planned in the months ahead, Alfie continues to build momentum towards his Swiss adventure, where he hopes to meet Scouts from around the world, experience new cultures and return home with memories that will last a lifetime.
