Glasgow-based Allied Vehicles Group achieved its highest ever sales result last month, selling over 700 specialist vehicles – a 48% increase on the previous November.
“We’re all excited by these latest figures – the highest sales total ever in one month since we began trading in 1993.”
Allied now employs almost 600 staff, mostly at its 28-acre site in Possilpark. The company is the largest supplier of vehicles to the UK taxi market and Europe’s largest manufacturer of wheelchair accessible vehicles. It converts and sells a variety of models including cars, minibuses, ambulances and taxis in conjunction with automotive partners such as Ford, Peugeot, Citroen, Toyota, Fiat, Hyundai, Kia, Seat, Mercedes and Volkswagen.
During November the group’s Cab Direct division sold 357 taxis while its Allied Mobility brand contributed 285 mobility cars. Allied Fleet achieved several new business-to-business orders, including Ford and Peugeot-based patient transport conversions for West Midlands Ambulance Service. Overall sales volume reached 712 units with a total order value of £9.9 million.
Unique Product Range
Managing director, Peter Facenna, commented: “We’re all excited by these latest figures – the highest sales total ever in one month since we began trading in 1993.
“This is a tremendous morale boost for everyone at Allied and shows that our unique product range is meeting the needs of diverse users with specialised transport needs, both throughout the UK and overseas.”
Mobility car sales were buoyed by the recent launch of an innovative pull-out ramp design and a new strategic partnership with Ford. Taxi sales performed especially strongly in November and the company continues to make important inroads with new clients in the healthcare, social service, community transport and voluntary sectors.
