Innovation and continuous improvement are at the heart of all that we offer.
Key to this is our specialist engineering resource. Our growing in-house team of design, homologation and production engineers works in tandem with external supply partners and independent test facilities. This expert team enables us to design, test and build our own-brand adapted vehicles, many of which involve substantial modification and to certify these to important industry safety and usability regulations. We also work regularly with fleet customers to develop new adaptations to suit their particular vehicle specifications and to ensure that these bespoke solutions also meet all necessary legal and regulatory requirements.
Important approval standards which we adopt include:
- EC Whole Vehicle Type Approval (ECWVTA)
- Individual Vehicle Approval (IVA)
- PAS 2012 for Wheelchair Accessible Vehicles
EC Whole Vehicle Type Approval is the Europe-wide safety and environmental standard for volume design and production of motor vehicles. The test processes involved in achieving WVTA can often be read across to match similar standards set by authorities on other continents. Individual Vehicle Approval provides flexibility to validate safety in vehicles produced in smaller numbers.
PAS 2012 provides a quality benchmark for companies involved in design, manufacture and sale of wheelchair accessible vehicles in the UK. This Publicly Available Specification was developed by the Wheelchair Accessible Vehicles Converters Association (WAVCA) under the auspices of BSI. Since its publication, PAS 2012 has been adopted as a condition of supply by Motability for all new wheelchair accessible vehicles registered on the UK Motability Scheme. PAS 2012 consists of two parts:
- PAS 2012:2015-1 sets requirements for design and build specifications of wheelchair accessible vehicles
- PAS 2012:2015-2 sets requirements for those involved in selling wheelchair accessible vehicles, including provision of relevant information for customers
