This week we bring you more exciting news from Allied Mobility. Our colleagues from engineering, manufacturing, marketing, sales, and many more departments, have been working tirelessly to bring a new model to the wheelchair accessible vehicle (WAV) market.
We’re proud to introduce the all-new Ford Courier Valeso™. Our latest WAV addition perfectly blends excellent accessibility features such as a lightweight wheelchair ramp and electric-assist winch with Ford’s sought after Titanium spec, which includes features like a reversing camera, front sensors and smart phone connectivity.
Valeso™, which is available in both fully-electric and petrol variants, was officially launched at Naidex, the UK’s leading disability event in Birmingham. Naidex has been running for over 50 years, bringing together innovators, care professionals and disabled people to explore products and services so it was the perfect place to introduce this small but mighty WAV.
This latest launch means we now offer 12 new WAV model types in total, including drive from and upfront passenger options. Two of these are also available in electric variants – eValeso™ and eHorizon™.
All of our wheelchair accessible vehicles are designed and manufactured at our north Glasgow site.
Offering the best choice on the market to our customers is vitally important as we live up to our core purpose of ‘we move people and make a difference to their lives’.
Lead engineer on Valeso™, Callum Wrathall said, “It’s been an incredible project to work on. I’ve been involved from the initial concept stage, right through to introducing the vehicle to production. That’s the amazing thing about being an engineer at Allied, we get to experience the full product cycle.
A particular highlight is that there is minimal difference in the conversion between the electric and petrol variants of the Valeso. Interior space for the wheelchair passenger is not sacrificed when choosing the electric powertrain.”
If you’re interested in joining our engineering team, we have an opening for a Configuration Engineer in our production and engineering department.
